On the 26th and 27th of November 2019, the Media Field Trip organised by VinylPlus® and European Plasticisers brought together journalists from all over Europe to show them the PVC value chain and its circularity efforts in action.
30 participants came together to visit the plant of PVC producer Vynova in Beek and the plastics recycling company Cifra Recycling GmbH in Neukirchen-Vluyn. The first day started with a guided tour of the Vynova Beek plant and a presentation on the plasticisers industry. Following lunch, the PVC industry’s commitment to sustainable development through the VinylPlus® initiative was introduced and the participants received presentations on the PVC industry in the Netherlands, and Vynova and PVC resins.
On the second day, the PVC industry in Germany, and the sustainability initiative ReVinylFloor were presented, before the participants received a guided tour of the Cifra recycling plant, where the journalists experienced first-hand the different steps of the recycling process from receiving and cleaning the material to processing to the raw material.
